Designing your modular kitchen can be quite a task. What with so many options and varieties available, one has to thoughtfully decide on things. While deciding on the cabinets, one has to choose the material, finish, storage design, among many things. One of the often ignored things to decide on is whether to go for handles on the cabinets or not to. There are various factors to be considered while making this decision. Let’s take a look at some of them.

1. Style – Considering you have already decided whether to go for a traditional or contemporary or a transitional style, you can decide whether to have handles or not. A traditional style generally includes handles, although it’s not a rule one has to abide by. Contemporary style has been all about being handle-less for a sleek look. Going for a transitional style might be a bit tricky because you’re using traditional elements to go for a modern look. So one must consider the colour palette, the design style and the theme of the house while choosing whether to go handle-less or not.

2. Function – It is important to remember while choosing between the handle and handle-less cabinets that one should not go for aesthetics alone. Functionality is what that should matter the most. If going for handle-less, check whether it is serving your purpose.

3. Cleanliness – Handle-less cabinets are easy to clean as there is no handle to obstruct the cleaning process. On the other hand, having a handle can be cumbersome to the cleanliness as a lot of dirt gets accumulated on the handle.

4. Budget – Going handle-less can cost you more as it requires advanced mechanics. If you have budget constraints, it will be better to go for handles as it would be more economical than going handle-less.

Kitchens are private space and going with what feels right can be tempting. But because we spend quite a bit on the cabinets and it is more of a long-term project, keeping in mind the above points can help you make the right decision. However, if you are unable to decide on whether to go handle-less or not, Saviesa has experts who can guide you to make the best choice.
